Appeals
All parents have the right of appeal against a decision not to offer a place for a child, providing an application has been made.
The timetable for lodging an appeal can be viewed here.
LODGING A LETTER OF INTENT TO APPEAL
In order to appeal against a decision not to offer your child a place at Bishop Gilpin for entry to the school in the school year commencing September 2024, a letter of your intention to appeal should be lodged directly to the school (addressed to The Clerk to the Admission Appeal Panel c/o Mrs D. Morgan in the School Office), as per the Appeals timetable.
Please clearly mark your letter for the attention of The Clerk to the Admission Appeal Panel. The Clerk to the Admission Appeal Panel will then send you Guidance Notes on the Appeals and an Application Form to complete.
Appeals can only be considered under two categories:
- that the admission arrangements were not correctly and impartially applied and/or are contrary to the School Admissions Code;
- the decision not to offer was unreasonable in the circumstances of the case.
Further details on the permissible grounds of appeal can be found in the School Admissions Appeal Code and on the appeal forms, which the Clerk to the Admission Appeal Panel will provide following receipt of a letter of intention to appeal.
